Day 1
Madrid - Spanish Family
Madrid is a city alive with a passion for every detail of life. The aromas of international cuisine pour from restaurants. Traditional dishes catch people’s eyes in outdoor cafes. Art decorates historic buildings and brings new generations in touch with their heritage. The beautiful architecture is different than that of other cities, sweeping across the old neighborhoods with prominent medieval mansions and an unimaginable Royal Palace. The family arrives at the airport and meets the private transfer arranged by one of our Spain travel agents.
There is something for everyone in Spain’s capital city, from sweet confections to stories of historic battles, delicate paintings to rambunctious pedestrian boulevards. El Retiro is a stunning 17th century European garden affixed with marble monuments, pristine landscape, and sporadic elegant buildings. A large structure watches over the graceful lake. Marble lions add to the Baroque style, and on warm afternoons people gather to enjoy the sunlight. At sunset, a crowd forms around the monument dedicated to Alfonso XII. People bring guitars, drums, horns, and tambourines. The music starts. People dance and more than 4,000 roses shine in the lingering light.

Discover the majestic landscape of the countryside and the celebrated architecture of royalty. Arrive in Madrid and feel the embracing atmosphere from the beginning. The family is ready to run through the streets and witness the entire city at once.
Your private guided tour escorts you along the Gran Via and the renowned sites of Madrid. The family will awe at the Royal Palace, the largest palace in Europe. The old quarter is filled with regal architecture and vibrant life. The entire city of Toledo was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The medieval city rests in the rolling hills outside of Madrid where culture and history are displayed proudly in the architecture. Traverse the hillsides and the remarkable streets.
A day trip to Segovia takes you to the edge of the Roman Empire. You will all feel as though you have stepped back in time. The old city holds tightly to its heritage and the deep layers of culture from the sweet shops to the fairytale castle. En route to Barcelona, you will stop in the town of Zaragoza. The city is filled with charm often overlooked by travelers wandering between Madrid and Barcelona. Once in Barcelona, you will quickly understand the vivacious, unique draw of the city.
The Mediterranean Sea laps at the city’s edges. Gaudi architecture is playful in the skyline and on park terraces. Traverse the cityscape to find the depths of wonder. The Boqueria is a vast, central market filled with traditional and evolving local flavors. The Block of Discord is a neighborhood designed by four separate architects. Step aboard the train and spend a day in the small, independent principality of Andorra, located in the Pyrenees. In the winter, the country is a picturesque snow-filled wonderland. The planning experience was wonderful overall. From the initial conversation about what my family was looking for to the final touches to the itinerary, Zicasso's travel expert was engaging, responsive, and helpful.
The accommodations he selected for us exceeded expectations; they were spacious, beautiful, and well-located. The tours/activities suggested were really fun and gave us a sense of the locale in a unique and memorable way that fit our family well. Once we were in-country, communications were easy and helpful. We felt very well cared for.
Payment to our travel company was easy and it was a real pleasure once we were in-country to have all the identified items already paid for. I would definitely book a trip with them again.

Zicasso's travel specialists did a great job for us. They clearly listened to us and curated an experience that was made specifically for us. It checked all of the boxes and more.
Highlights were the local tour guides in each city. It was great to meet and get to know local people, learn so much history, see the architecture (Gaudí in Barcelona and the awesome palaces and cathedrals that we visited), the Montserrat hike, Caminito del Rey (which was absolutely better with a guide), and the Marbella e-bike adventure.
The hotels were wonderful; all unique and all great choices. We came home happy and tired, which is the sign of a good trip for us (since we do not ever sit on beaches or at pools and relax!).

My family and I loved Asturias. We considered it a “once-in-a-lifetime” trip. Zicasso's travel agent planned the perfect outings for us. Our guides were knowledgeable and helpful. Our agent also provided us with very helpful hints and suggestions for restaurants and shops. Both of the hotels he chose were located perfectly and staffed by friendly employees.
