Exclusive Outdoor Australia: Scenic Flights, Kangaroos, and Beaches

What to expect on this itinerary
Off the beaten track in the great outdoors will be the focus of your ten days in Australia. Think of humpback whales, red kangaroos, scenic flights, bizarre birds, and wilderness experiences that cannot be matched anywhere else in the world. You will experience marsupials, Southern stars, monoliths, and the escapism that only the Outback can provide. This ten-day vacation will provide you with all of these experiences and more, incorporating Ningaloo, Flinders Ranges, Kangaroo Island, and Uluru into this one trip, which will allow you to connect with the most unique land there is on planet Earth.
Customizable Itinerary
Ningaloo – A Nighttime Snorkel or Dive
Australia is world famous for the Great Barrier Reef, which is an immense marine chain that is visible from space. However, the reefs have suffered from extensive bleaching and show signs of weariness from over-tourism. The outer reefs are in better shapes, but those that are accessible on half day trips can prove to be a disappointment. The highlight at Ningaloo is that some of the best diving and snorkeling can be done directly from the shore. Many of the points on this 160-mile, West Coast reef system are just meters from secluded beaches. There is a stunning conglomeration of marine life, and the ecosystem remains in excellent shape.
After flying into Exmouth, you will be transferred to Ningaloo. You should note that there are no international flights to Exmouth, so you will need to make a domestic transfer, which typically occurs in Perth. Your lodge is located on a quiet sandy beach with excellent snorkeling and diving that is available directly from the sand. After your arrival, there will be some time to rest and relax before a nighttime marine adventure. This can be a guided snorkeling trip with flashlights, and you are usually floating on a drift above a reef wall. It can also be a short, refreshing dive in the afternoon that is followed by a shallow, nighttime dive.

Detailed Description
So much of Australia is wilderness. Monoliths shimmer ochre in an epic desert, deserted coastlines are frequented by whales, sharks, and manta rays, and kangaroos hop about ancient creeks and rest in the shade of old gum trees. The stars will shine brightly almost every evening, and there is always a surprise with so much indigenous wildlife that surrounds you. This vacation will take you to Australia’s wildernesses, where you will enjoy intimate encounters with the continent’s rare and wondrous wildlife. It will also connect you to the Earth and provide an evocative escape in some of the world’s vast wildernesses.
East Coast Australia is deliberately missing from the itinerary. Yes, the Great Barrier Reef can be seen from space, but those who are in-the-know about Australia tend to have their marine adventures on the West Coast, where the reefs have not been bleached, and open-sea encounters are guaranteed. On Kangaroo Island, you can see more in a smaller space, so it will be an excellent choice when you only have ten days in the country. Uluru is spectacular, and the experience is not just about one rock. Instead, it will concern the raw beauty of an ancient desert, especially how colors change through the day. Finally, the Flinders Ranges will offer an immersion in the Outback’s classic landscapes.
These four destinations will mean a rather action-packed vacation. Still, such wildernesses mean an escapist atmosphere and a vacation that can be very laid-back. You will begin with the marine life around Ningaloo. There is time for at least two scuba dives or snorkels in the day and after dark. On day two, you will go swimming with whale sharks and hopefully experience some acrobatic humpback whales. After Ningaloo, you will spend a night in Perth, which is a very outdoorsy kind of city. Then, on day three, you will fly to Adelaide and continue by private charter to the Flinders Ranges. Stark landscapes and sculpted ranges will make for a sublime two days in nature here with marsupial and dingo encounters that will add to the Aboriginal rock art and stunning hikes.
You will fly by charter to Kangaroo Island, where you can really experience the Outback from the air, especially when the pilot swoops low over the old creeks. Kangaroo Island offers you an intimate wildlife safari, and you can get up close with most of the country’s favorites along with the quirky, strange, and wonderful. It will also be possible to have some marine experiences here should you wish, notably with fur seals. You will end your vacation in Uluru, where you will watch the sunset across the monolith on day eight. While tucked into a remote desert camp, you can experience how this magical desert changes color with Kata Tjuta and the Southern stars being likely to create eternal memories from these final two days.
You should note that this ten-day vacation will be best enjoyed during the Australian winter. Ningaloo Reef is best from June to September, which are months when sightings of the big four marine giants overlap. These are humpback whales, whale sharks, manta rays, and three turtle species. Flinders Range and Uluru are far more pleasant during the winter when it is cooler and more comfortable to explore. Here, summer is one of the world’s hottest and arid, so it is not particularly pleasant. Kangaroo Island is a year-round destination, and it can get relatively cold at night. While the climate is not the best during the winter, by sandwiching the island between two destinations in the Outback, you will not mind a chill in the air.

We absolutely loved so much of our trip! My kids’ (ages 11 and eight) favorite activities were luging in Rotorua, NZ, and the sunset camel ride in Uluru, AU, while my husband and I were enchanted by Hobbiton and enjoyed exploring a glowworm cave with the owner's father! We all loved Tasmania.
There were a few hiccups. However, we were very happy with all the support the Zicasso travel company's team provided in real time to help us get back on track.
The overall trip was fantastic. My husband and I appreciated having the team support our adventures, both the highs and the lows. The team members were detailed-oriented. This trip exceeded our expectations and we’re incredibly grateful for their expertise in curating such memorable experiences.

After a cancelled flight by Qantas and a two-day delay, we made it to Australia. Overall, the vacation was very nice. Our only real complaint was our hotel in Darwin. The hotel had seen better days, and the temperature in the hotel was very cold. After Darwin, the hotels and B&B were very nice. I highly recommend the Ghan Expedition train ride from Darwin to Adelaide.

We could not have been more pleased with all of the arrangements. The attention to detail was perfect.
The original Zicasso travel specialist was wonderful and the one who took over from her was amazing. We selected her because of her knowledge of the best routing for air travel and suggestions as to cities that were safer than others.
While in Uluru, we discovered that one of our tours wasn't going to happen, so I called the travel specialist and, within 30 minutes, she had us booked on another tour, very similar to the one that got cancelled.
We especially appreciated the ground transportation. Each driver and their vehicle were great.
All of the tours we experienced were also well planned out. We did cancel one at the last minute in Sydney due to the rainy weather. The travel consultant informed us that we might not get a refund because it was such short notice.
The hotel selections were excellent. We had to depart each one prior to the opening of the breakfast buffet (which was included). In each case, the hotel arranged a "to-go" breakfast box and had it delivered to our room before we left. Excellent service.

We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Australia! The trip ran smoothly and we loved all the tours Zicasso's travel agent recommended! The multiple flights, drivers, and car rentals went smoothly, and that really took the worry out of the trip!

Thanks to the amazing, perfectly planned Australia and New Zealand vacation itinerary provided by Zicasso's travel agency, and specifically the travel agent and her wonderful colleagues, this was the perfect vacation. We were well taken care of and flights were planned within the countries, with someone always greeting us at the next stop to move us through to our next adventure.
We were always busy and saw the most wonderful things... a sunset dinner cruise on Sydney harbor, the march of the penguins at Phillip Island (she arranged for us to have a front-row seat!), snorkeling the Great Barrier Reef, and touring the rainforest with an Aboriginal guide was very interesting! She arranged for many tours and activities, like a jet boat ride up the Dart River, a helicopter ride onto a glacier, and a TranzAlpine train ride in New Zealand. We also had a first-time-ever encounter with a pod of orca while on a boat tour in New Zealand. The whole trip was an unforgettable experience!
We wished we had taken the travel agent's advice and stayed longer. There was so much to see. We packed a lot into our four short weeks thanks to them. We highly recommend using them to plan your Australia and New Zealand itinerary.
