Peru’s capital city stretches from ocean to hillsides as a cosmopolitan metropolis encompasses the variety of cultures from around the country and the world. The city feels like a far cry from the images of Andean villagers and llamas with snow-capped peaks and flowing grasslands. Spanish colonial architecture decorates the city center at the Plaza de Armas, and the coastal neighborhood of Miraflores looks over the Pacific Ocean from atop stunning cliffs. Your flight will land at Jorge Chavez International Airport, where your private transfer greets you upon arrival.

The National Archeology, Anthropology, and History Museum displays a variety of ceramics, figural stone carvings, mummies, and goldwork that offers a timeline to better understand the stunning past of Peru from prehistory leading to the colonial era.
In the heart of the city at Plaza de Armas, you will find the bright yellow façade of the San Francisco Monastery. The unique tapestry of the façade leads into the labyrinth of narrow halls in the catacombs. An artistic arrangement of bones represents the nearly 10,000 people interred in Lima’s first cemetery begun in the late 17th century and utilized until the early 19th century. The cool, damp surroundings contrast with the warmth of the coastal city. On the main floor, the marvelous portals and archways support the celebrated library that maintains 25,000 antique texts, including editions predating Spanish conquest that will mesmerize you. We had a great trip to Peru! Zicasso’s tour operator was super-helpful in working through the final itinerary and activities with us and answered a lot of questions we had on everything, from what cities to visit, hotels, and even trains. Our travel agent was great in handling the finalization of the itinerary and keeping us informed as our trip came closer. The final itinerary, provided a few weeks before our trip, detailed the times for meeting our guides and our pick-ups and drop-offs, which was very helpful.
Our guides were amazing! We had a great time with them in Lima, the Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu and Cusco. The drivers and vehicles provided through our travel company were great, with safe drivers in clean and comfortable vehicles.
Our trip was planned perfectly to help us adjust to the climate. Starting in Lima and ending in Cusco worked great for us and allowed us to get used to the higher elevations. In the end, our itinerary was nine days/eight nights and we didn't feel rushed at all during our trip.

We just returned from a spectacular three-week journey through South America (Peru, Chile, and Argentina) and, once again, Zicasso, along with our trip planner, delivered an unforgettable experience. This was our second time using Zicasso and it’s clear why we keep coming back.
From the very beginning, our trip planner was a true partner in planning. He listened closely to our interests, helped shape an itinerary that perfectly balanced adventure, culture, and relaxation, and offered thoughtful insights that only someone deeply familiar with the region could provide. His attention to detail in the pre-trip phase was impeccable. We felt fully prepared and taken care of before we even left home.
Once on the ground, everything ran like clockwork. The in-country communication was seamless. Our agent and his team were always just a message away and incredibly responsive. Every driver was prompt, professional, and personable. The tours were consistently outstanding, with guides who were knowledgeable, passionate, and genuinely engaging. The accommodations were beautiful, comfortable, and perfectly situated, offering unique charm and excellent service at every stop.
It’s not easy to plan a multi-country trip with so many moving parts, but Zicasso and our agent made it look effortless. We came away with lifelong memories and we’re already dreaming about our next adventure. Zicasso continues to exceed our expectations and we wouldn’t hesitate to use them again.
