Detailed Description

Europe’s culinary secrets are found in specific regions. For pastries it must be Paris. For prosciutto and balsamic you must go tasting in Emilia-Romagna. Tapas is a passion from Andalusia while a legendary dish like beef bourguignon originates in Burgundy. What about the wine? It’s almost impossible to compare the flavors of Catalan Cava, Cote De Nuites Pinot Noir and the light white blends from Frascati. Then there are the chefs. Some are from the old-world, maintaining traditional recipes as part of their legacy to the culinary world. Others refine and revolutionize, taking local produce into a new-world realm.

This handcrafted tour explores the finest cuisine of France, Italy, and Spain. It showcases two regions in each country, regions chosen primarily for their gastronomy. Throughout the tour, you’ll enjoy local cooking classes with renowned chefs. You’ll explore food markets and the origins of world-famous local produce. It’s a tour focused on authentic flavors and uncovering secrets, not just dinner reservations. There is fine dining, but also informal dining and a chance to find flavors down the back streets as well. Food and wine pairing is also a large part of the experience, along with culinary walking tours through small neighborhoods. Along the way, you’ll discover more than food, these destinations also home to some of Europe’s great icons.

Paris is a place of pastries, sweet treats, food markets, and gourmet dining. You have three days here, including a pastry class. Burgundy is old-world France. Go Pinot Noir tasting at villages and vineyards, try classic beef dishes and unwind in Beaune. Fly to Barcelona to discover contemporary Catalan dining. Taste Cava in Penedes and take a cooking class with a renowned local chef. Andalusia is the home of tapas and you spend three days in Ronda, an old Moorish town filled with flavor. Cheeses, oils, sherry, seafood, the list goes on in this corner of Spain. Fly to Rome and two days of wine and food tasting, in markets and railway cars. Then finish the tour in Europe’s finest food region, Emilia-Romagna. It’s home to so many of Italy’s most famous flavors – prosciutto, balsamic, Parmigiano, bolognese and more.

Italy Tour Review: Rome, Naples, Sorrento, Private Guides, Vespa Tour, Colosseum, Food Tour, Cooking Class, 11 Nights

Our experience with Zicasso’s travel specialist was nothing short of spectacular – truly a five-star journey from beginning to end!

From the start, she took the time to truly understand our preferences and how we wanted to spend our time in Italy. Her attention to detail and thoughtful planning resulted in a memorable and seamless trip that exceeded all our expectations.

Our agent’s dedication showed in every part of our itinerary – she regularly checked in to ensure we had all the information we needed for meeting times and locations, which made everything run smoothly. The quality of the private tours – from the Vespa tour of Rome to the Colosseum and the Naples food tour (Fiorella) – was exceptional. Each guide was a knowledgeable local who welcomed us warmly, even meeting us at our hotel or the train station.

One highlight was our private cooking class in Sorrento, which was absolutely unforgettable. We prepared a delicious four-course meal and enjoyed it with wine pairings – all in an intimate, welcoming setting. The head chef and entire staff made us feel like royalty!

The hotels our agent selected were comfortable, well-located, and offered fabulous breakfasts – we’re still dreaming of the daily cappuccinos! All transportation was pre-arranged, from private airport and train transfers to train tickets from Rome to Sorrento. It made a world of difference in reducing travel stress.

Our agent also helped us with restaurant recommendations and reservations, especially those that needed a local touch. Dining was an important part of our trip and every meal was a delight – relaxed, flavorful, and perfectly suited to our tastes.

We must also give a special shout-out to the private drivers in Sorrento, who truly went above and beyond – one with his warm personality and homemade pastries, our guide and photographer in Ravello, and our driver who drove us in luxury to our cooking class – each made us feel genuinely cared for and gave us insight into the local culture and lifestyle.

Our memories from this trip will be everlasting and we are deeply grateful to our agent and the rest of our incredible “crew”.

I nostri ricordi saranno eterni e per questo siamo davvero grati al nostro agente e al resto dell'equipaggio.

Italy Trip Review: Rome, Venice, Florence, Opera, Walking Tours, 10 Nights

We had a fantastic experience for a first-time trip to Italy. I wasn't sure how this would be, considering I learned about Zicasso while trying to plan the trip myself. Zicasso put me in touch with a travel specialist and the whole team was incredibly responsive to my many, many questions. If they were ever annoyed, it didn’t show.

I really wanted a smooth experience for my family of five, including three teens, one of whom has Celiac. Our agent was great in helping plan out the experience we wanted. As you may know, it is challenging to find rooms for five in Europe, but the travel company found apartments (usually two bedrooms with a pull-out couch) in the heart of town. You can really customize what you do, but we elected to plan our own meals and handle some of our own transport. We did have one issue where the van driver taking us to the train failed to show. I got one with Uber and the travel company quickly (I mean before we got home quickly!) refunded that amount.

Our contact in Italy was amazing and patient. I can’t give her enough credit. Any time I was unsure of something, she was there. The tours were great, especially Florence and Rome. You may be able to find the companies online, but ours seems to have the connections to get the best guides.

As for meals, we didn’t have any issues. We used an app and got a few recommendations from the travel company and local guides. Even our wine-tasting tour out in Tuscany was accommodating.

I would use our travel company and Zicasso again. I think the only downside is we tried to cram a lot in and it was hot. I probably should have asked for one to two fewer or shorter walking tours, especially on days we switched cities. Otherwise, it was excellent.

France, Spain Tour Review: Normandy, Paris, Bordeaux, Basque Country, Mont Saint-Michel, San Sebastian, Food Tours, Wine Tastings, 17 Nights

I cannot make enough positive statements about our experience with Zicasso's tour company. The travel specialist and the other team members were phenomenal. We went from Normandy to Paris to Bordeaux to the Basque Country. The planning process for the trip was hassle-free. They asked all the right questions to ensure our trip had the experiences we wanted: food tours, wine tastings, museums, soccer games, D-Day, Mont Saint-Michel, and more.

The balance of planned excursions and free time was perfect. Every guide was professional, knowledgeable, and personable, but more than that, it was clear each guide loved what they did and had a passion for what they were showing us. Every hotel we stayed in was spot-on with the amenities we discussed in our planning.

The agency was accommodating and easy to get in touch with when needed. Our trip was truly a vacation; all the details were taken care of and all tickets were electronically available. I highly recommend using this travel company!

Our Zicasso travel specialist planned a wonderful trip for our group. The hotels were excellent, the transfers worked very well, and the suggested restaurants were very good. Our two tour guides, in Normandy and Paris, were very knowledgeable and all in the group enjoyed the tours. We highly recommend the Zicasso travel agency.

France Birthday Tour Review: Paris, Champagne, Michelin Cuisine, Historical Sites, Seine Cruise, Eiffel Tower, 9 Nights

Zicasso's travel agency is a world-class travel company and our agent is the best travel designer in all of France. I could not recommend her more! She planned a once-in-a-lifetime luxury trip to Paris and Champagne to celebrate my wife's 40th birthday and it exceeded our expectations!

Our designer's extensive knowledge of the region, attention to detail, and expansive network of contacts ensured we had exceptional service and experiences throughout the trip.

When planning our itinerary, she took the time to learn what we liked and where we wanted to go, and the result was a perfect combo of sightseeing at historical landmarks, gastronomy at Michelin-starred restaurants, and VIP experiences like a private cruise down the Seine.

In Champagne, we learned more about the region's wine production and relaxed at the most prestigious hotel. All of our guides were friendly, knowledgeable, and prompt.

Simply put, it was an amazing trip and it's because Zicasso's travel company planned it for us!
