Detailed Description

Provence is a region that lends itself to indulgence. Art and food are passions that fill the soul, an undeniable reason for being. Your 9-day Provence tour introduces you to the impassioned culture of Southern France, bursting with locals who take pride in simple pleasures and brimming with a history that spans the lengths of Western Civilization. Your journey begins with your arrival in Marseille, a seaside city with ties to ancient Greece. Your private transfer escorts you from the Marseille Provence Airport to your luxurious hotel in the heart of the city.

Get acquainted with the city on the first of many France tours with a brief discovery of the Old Port and its historical borders. The following morning, you continue your exploration of the fabulous past inside Marseille before venturing to the quaint streets of Aix-en-Provence to further your discoveries of the charm and elegance found in Southern France. Then, your guide leads you on a search of the markings of Paul Cezanne at the artist’s home. Continue your immersion into culture with a visit to the vines and pathways of Chateau La Coste. Leave the city of Aix-en-Provence behind and enjoy the stunning village of Gordes, a fantasy-like construct surrounded by hills and overlooking the plains.

Settle in the quiet town of Joucas in the evening. The beauty of cedar and oak trees stretches out across the Luberon region. Visit the Abbaye de Senanque to experience the aromas of lavender and explore the beauty of the town of Menerbes. Travel to the town of Fontaine-de-Vaucluse and journey through the asylum of Saint-Paul-de-Mausole in Saint-Remy-de-Provence, where Vincent van Gogh once resided and produced some of his most famous paintings. Stroll along the Roman city of Glanum to witness the largest and oldest ruins in France.

Next, you immerse yourself in the markets of Avignon with a guide and chef. Enjoy a hands-on culinary class accompanied by a sommelier to teach you the best combinations of wine and local cuisine. Spend the afternoon exploring the city by bicycle. Discover the Pont du Gard and sample the stunning wines of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. On your final day, your private transfer meets you at the hotel after breakfast and escorts you to the airport in Marseilles for your flight home.

France Tour Review: Paris, Notre-Dame, Arc de Triomphe,...

Our trip to Paris and the South of France was amazing! We were extremely pleased with our itinerary, visiting the various museums and attractions throughout the trip.

It was unfortunate that France was experiencing a heatwave, but of course, one never knows what Mother Nature has in store for us. We walked the cobblestone streets, keeping well hydrated and managing as best we could. It was a challenge when the temps reached 100 degrees F for several days, but we survived!

The hotel accommodations were lovely and the staff were very accommodating. Zicasso is an exceptional, professional travel company and we were extremely satisfied with everything.
