Detailed Description

A cruise isn't the only luxurious way to explore the Galapagos archipelago. Using a Santa Cruz hotel as your base, you enjoy 12 days of an exclusive land based tour of Galapagos Islands, discovering the eclectic and iconic sites of the archipelago. Wander across lava flows, stand surrounded by giant tortoises, sunbathe beside sea lions, and snorkel through incredible marine landscapes. A mix of land and yacht excursions take you into the untouched Galapagos world at your pace, allowing you to indulge in the weird and wonderful; frigates with inflated red chests, blue-footed boobies, fur seals, camouflaged rays, bizarre fish, and much more. Staying on land means there is lots of free time and opportunities to explore without a guide. Outstanding snorkeling and bird sites can be found within walking distance of the hotel, and there's always the dusk scene of sea birds diving for their dinner.

Just as there's more to the Galapagos than a cruise, there's more to Ecuador than the Galapagos. Your vacation starts in Quito, Latin America's largest colonial city and a treasure chest of historical charm. Stay in the ancient city center and soak up an atmosphere of another era; colorful courtyards, 16th-century churches, elegant palaces, and an eclectic mix of imported styles. Head to Mindo on day three and spend two days in a mysterious cloud forest. Dozens of hummingbirds flutter beside your balcony while thousands of butterflies float gently through the trees. You'll also hike deep into the forest to find endemic birds and zip-line above the forest canopy. Take a moment to read for yourself actual accounts of Galapagos trip reviews from travelers like yourself.

A land-based Galapagos itinerary is ideal for those who don't have their sea legs or are seeking the freedom and luxury that isn't possible on a boat. The lavish eco hotel in Santa Cruz offers space, privacy, and stunning wildlife scenes within walking distance. A program of excursions ensures you fully discover the dramatic variety of the islands. Head out by yacht to islands like Santa Fe and North Seymour, both alive with endemic wildlife and vivid wildlife mating scenes. Santa Cruz is the second largest of the Galapagos Islands, and you'll also take land excursions to its multiple sites, like the giant tortoises of the highlands and beaches populated with sea lions. You're also within walking distance of Puerto Ayora, with its cute collection of shops and cafes around the harbor. But while you'll find people in the town, there are few places without unusual wildlife scenes.

Ecuador Tour Review: Quito, Galapagos Islands, History,...

Zicasso's trip planner is excellent! She planned a personalized itinerary for me and my family, with activities for all different ages in our travel group. We truly enjoyed our experience in Quito and the Galápagos Islands.

Our tour guide did a wonderful job taking us around Quito and ensuring we got to fully experience the city (including historical landmarks and local spots). In addition, one of our family members had altitude sickness and he put a lot of effort into helping her get assistance and even medical care in the airport.

Five stars for our agent and our guide.

Ecuador, Peru Vacation Review: Galapagos, Machu Picchu,...

The plan by Zicasso's trip planner and the help he provided during our trip were invaluable. Unfortunately, my sister and I overestimated our abilities and underestimated our physical stamina. As he suggested, five days in the Galápagos would have been plenty. The Amazon trip was quite arduous for us, but the guide was fantastic. The Machu Picchu guide was fantastic. All our guides enjoy their work. More attention could have been paid to the altitude. My sister was sick most of the trip. We should have paid more attention to that before the trip.

Ecuador Tour Review: Quito, Genovesa, Floreana, 1 Week

The trip was wonderful. We had an excellent time, with great recommendations and guides. It exceeded expectations. Our Zicasso travel agent and her company were very organized and the app they used was very beneficial. They handled every detail and were available for any troubleshooting. They worked with us to craft an itinerary that was exactly what we wanted and were excellent communicators. Highly recommended!

Peru, Ecuador Tour Review: Wildlife, Hiking, Mountains,...

We (me and my husband) took our seven-year-old to visit Machu Picchu and the Galápagos for two weeks. The trip was initially booked through Zicasso, who then referred us to our travel agent, who fine-tuned our itinerary to make all three of us happy, and it was great. We had nothing to worry about. Once we landed in Lima, the rest was like autopilot. Our drivers were ready, the hotels were amazing, and the food was awesome. They even helped us check in bags at the airports and printed our boarding passes for us since we didn’t speak much Spanish.

My son had a blast in the Galápagos. His eyes got so big, once he got to officially snorkel, after seeing all those beautiful animals underwater. He loves nature and he got to go hiking and see all kinds of animals every day. Altitude sickness was real in Machu Picchu, but a little water and a little rest fixed it.
