Frankfurt – Culinary Welcome

Frankfurt's culinary heritage is far more complicated than the simple sausage it gave its name to. While Frankfurters are easily found from the street hawkers, the city reveals a gourmet indulgence far beyond a sausage and a bread roll. This city has been a cultural hotbed for 2,000 years, and its legacy prevails amidst the towering skyscrapers of its future. You'll be greeted at the airport and transferred to a five-star hotel in the city's heart, where the atmosphere is distinctly old-world. Relax. Refresh. Admire the skyline. Then head out in the evening for a fantastic restaurant experience.

Housed in a fabulous country residence, this fabled restaurant has two Michelin stars and an outdoor terrace of pure indulgence. After an outdoor drink, step inside to a dining room that's as kitsch as it is chic, a style that reflects the royal tastes of a bygone era. The food is innovative and sophisticated, delicate flavors in bold and daring creations, an ode to creation that reflects the bounty and style of the Rhine. It's an ideal introduction to the tastes of this region, one that's rooted in regal history and pioneering in every dish.

Detailed Description

The old-world atmosphere feels untouched along the banks of the River Rhine. Crumbling castles stand above terraced vineyards; towns reveal streets of cobblestone and intrigue, and the image of yesteryear infiltrates every angle. The Middle Rhine is Germany's most scenic area, a sublime landscape carved along the shores of a river steeped in history. Along this water, you find the medieval and Roman remains of Germany, symbolized by fairytale castles, or fine old cities of half-timbered houses, or baroque cathedrals dominating quaint stone squares.

Elevating the ambiance is the fabled produce of the Rhine and the wines and gourmet treats nurtured for centuries. This is Germany's exquisite wine growing region, an area that values quality over quantity and always provides a delightfully unique place to try it all. Sip wine in castle ruins, spend evenings in medieval wine taverns and watch the river softly ripple as you wander through the vines. Wine tasting is integral to the itinerary, and you spend two full days exploring the various styles of the Rhine, including the Liebfraumilch, and the historic home of Germany's winegrowers.

This private luxury tour starts in Frankfurt, a city that juxtaposes a modern financial center with a beguiling cultural legacy. Roman remains blur into the relics of first millennia emperors, all beneath a backdrop of glass-fronted skyscrapers. You will travel along the Rhine, wine tasting along the banks and cruising past 1000-year-old castles. Stop in the spa town of Wiesbaden, taste in a medieval ruin, and continue to Rüdesheim, the famous city of winegrowers. Several nights here allow you to soak up the atmosphere of historic wine taverns and medieval streets.

Cross the Rhine to Bingen, for a series of tastings focused on Rheinhessen wine. With the river glimmering below, you're in Germany's rural heartland, an area of elegance and continual panoramas. Worms is where Liebfraumilch wine originated, and the town's prosperity from the high Middle Ages is discovered. Then move on to Heidelberg, an ancient town that responds to its legendary reputation and provides nights of atmospheric bliss to complete this luxury tour. Private guides and wine experts offer the narrative throughout while a selection of stellar hotels exudes the old-world charm.

Scotland, Germany Trip Review: Family Heritage, Villages, Seamless Logistics, 3 Weeks

Our Zicasso travel coordinator was extremely responsive, which we highly value. She spent weeks adjusting and discussing our custom itinerary to meet our needs. We asked so many questions about payment and options while building trust; she never faltered in her patience, professionalism, and kind support.

When it came time for our trip, everything flowed with our custom itinerary. We are seasoned travelers, so we were not annoyed by some minor inconviences and the company's WhatsApp help desk team was super-responsive and even proactive. Each day they provided our next day's itinerary. They worked hard for us to make some "in-the-moment" changes and we always felt supported and cared for.

One hotel was not four stars, as described, but locals explained it had recently changed management. One guide was a bit intrusive and lacked boundaries, but we did not hesitate to provide those suppliers with our direct feedback either; we know it was not on our travel company.

So, in summary, everything was a great experience, just be clear to have the right expectations and share any feedback directly with sub-contractors, but also follow up with the travel company.

Zicasso's travel agency did an excellent job of helping us plan our Central Europe trip by listening to what we wanted out of the trip and then incorporating our ideas and their expert advice into an amazing itinerary. Our itinerary was jam-packed with wonderful tours and awesome adventures, including wonderful day trips throughout the three weeks of our vacation.

We have done a lot of travelling throughout the world and this was one of the best trips we have taken. In addition, they were always available and very responsive the couple of times we needed their assistance. We highly recommend them to assist anyone with their travel plans.

Germany, France Vacation Review: History, Castles, Small Towns, Local Cuisine, 2 Weeks

We just got back from a wonderful trip touring Germany. Zicasso's travel expert did a great job planning out our trip and everything went well, as planned. He was quick and efficient in planning our trip, listened to our wants and needs, and got us what we wanted in the budget that we indicated.

Months after all was planned, the airline changed its schedule and we had to move all hotels and tours to a different date. Our agent took care of everything for us and didn't charge anything extra for all the hassle he had to go through. I really appreciated that he put the clients interest first and just handled it like a professional, since the change wasn't our fault.

Every tour guide and driver showed up on time or even early, and we didn't have any problems during our trip. I highly recommend this travel company and tour agent if you are looking to visit Germany or the surrounding countries.

Hungary, Austria, Germany, France Vacation Review: Budapest, Vienna, Berlin, Paris, 2 Weeks

To everyone at Zicasso's travel agency, thank you, thank you, thank you! The private trip to the most remarkable European metropolises you curated for us was, well, in the words of the countries we visited, csodálatos/wunderbar/wunderbar/and trés magnifique!!!!!

Everything and everyone you arranged for us was not only to our liking, but perfect.

The hotels were as we like, boutique, not large conglomerate chains. Each was nicely situated, with the staff attentive. The one we found best was in Berlin, with the others not far behind.

The drivers were all nice, on time, and helpful. The tour guides were all informative and knowledgeable, and answered our many questions with aplomb. While all were good, we found the two guides in Berlin to be our favorites. And while she knew her subject matter, we found the one in Vienna too religious and opinionated. We suggest maybe not using her as much.

We did not really use any of the restaurant recommendations you supplied because we like to find local eateries close to the hotels. Two we went to twice because the first experience was so good – in Berlin and in Paris.

One note: there were two times we took a cab whose driver, after taking us, said they did not accept cash and passed a card scanner for me to tap. Afterward, I received an alert from Visa that the charge was $98 rather than the $9 quoted in Budapest and $168 rather than the $12 quoted in Paris. We suggest letting everyone know to only take cabs that accept cash or take an Uber.

Once again I would like to thank all of you who endeavored to make this adventure such a pleasant and memorable one.

All the best,

Rick and Barb Boyko
