Highlights of Iceland Tour: Trek Through Iceland in 10 Days

As the morning sun brightens across the land, you will travel to Snaefellsnes National Park, which sits along the Snaefellsnes Peninsula. Eventually, you will reach a shoreline of beaches. Here, you can traverse across Djupalon Beach, which is another black sand beach. Your experienced guide will bring you to the snowmobile center for you to experience the Golden Circle in the best way possible. During this experience, you will snowmobile to Thingvellir National Park. Afterward, your experienced guide will show you the earliest documented geyser. Once you have finished your tour of the Golden Circle via snowmobile, your guide will lead you to the only Michelin-starred restaurant in Iceland.

After breakfast, your guide will lead you to the Latrabjarg Cliffs. In Iceland, waterfalls are a distinctive aspect of the country’s landscape, but there are none more stunning than Dynjandi, which is also known as the jewel of the Westfjords. This majestic waterfall drops from a height of 330 feet, being narrow at the top and widening at the bottom to appear like a veil of water over the cliff. After lunch, your guide will escort you to Hornstrandir Nature Reserve. After your visit, you will be returned to your accommodation, where you will have the remainder of the evening to spend at your leisure.

Iceland is a place that is renowned for its whale watching, and there is no better area to discover the abundance of marine animals than from Akureyri. This morning, you will set off for the floating pier to board a ship in search of these gentle giants. While sighting whales is fairly common in this area, it cannot be absolutely guaranteed. In Akureyri, there is a garden that is waiting for you to discover it. At the botanical garden, you will find about 6,600 different types of imported plants that are growing in beds or nurseries. From here, your guide will lead you to the charming town of Siglufjordur, which is best known as the cultural hub of the north.

In the morning, your guide will usher you to an amazing phenomenon: the Skutustadir pseudocraters. Here, you will stand in awe at these rootless craters that formed when molten lava flowed over a wetland. From the pseudocraters, you will descend into the Earth with your guide to locate Grjotagja, which is a small lava cave that houses a geothermal hot spring. You may choose to indulge in lunch within the depths of the cave, or you can eat once your exploration has finished. Afterward, you will travel to Lake Myvatn, which is an area that is famous for its nature baths.

This morning, your guide will lead you to a horse farm, where you will be saddled onto a mighty steed that is shorter than your average horse. After your Icelandic horse excursion, you will travel to the Shelter of the Gods. At the helicopter center, you will take to the skies for a bird’s eye view of the entire canyon. Once you land and walk to the edge of the canyon, your guide will tell you of the legend that surrounds the area. You will be provided with lunch at this spot, and you can take as many photographs as you would like. Your final stop of the day will be the Arctic Henge.

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Vatnajokull, where you can climb into the icy depths of a glacier. As you lower yourself deeper within the glacier, your experienced guide will explain to you the amazing properties of the Crystal cave and how it was formed by a large glacial river that runs through the area each summer. A  transfer to Hengifoss, which is the third-largest waterfall in the country, will greet you next.  You will then stop for lunch before your guide escorts you to Borgarfjordur Eystri, which is a region that is famous for its hiking trails that lead to remote fjords and coves.

This morning, you will venture to Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon. The neighboring black sand beach has been dubbed Diamond Beach because the sand resembles diamonds when the sun shines upon it. On your way to Skaftafell, you and your guide will come across an oasis that is known as Svartifoss. From here, you will continue on your journey to Skaftafell National Park. The national park holds a variety of landscapes, such as black sands, lazy rivers, volcanoes, and snow-capped mountain peaks. You will be able to explore until you want to return to your base.

As the sun shines across the sky, you and your guide will travel to Langjokull Glacier, which is the second-largest ice cap in the country. As you ride to the summit on snowmobiles, you will experience the thrill of snow rushing past your face. From the top of the glacier, you will descend into the lava caves of Leidarendi with your guide. After lunch, you will travel to Seljalandsfoss. As you traverse the path that allows you to circle the majestic rapids, you will feel a light mist that drizzles across the area before coming across the hidden and lesser-known Gljufrabui. The waterfall runs through a cleft in the cliff before tumbling over a large boulder, where it creates a hypnotic scene.

When the sky brightens from the rising sun, you will trek to the center of Reykjavik to view Hallgrimskirkja, which is the largest church in the country. From here, your guide will escort you to one of the most famous places in the city: the Blue Lagoon. Your private transfer will then escort you to Keflavik Airport, where you will leave the country full of wonder at the sights and experiences that will forever remain in your heart.
