Day 1
Venice – Arrive in Venice with a Private Exploration of the Grand Canal
Venice has a history of feasts and festivals set inside the opulent palaces and along the cobblestone streets meandering beside the canals. Hidden wine bars known as bacari offer locals glasses of wine and small plates of culinary specialties to bask in the enchanting afternoons of the city. Your flight will land at Marco Polo International Airport where you will meet your private transfer at baggage claim. At the edge of the Grand Canal, you will board a private boat to take you to the dock of your historical, luxurious hotel at the heart of Venice’s main island.
The city of Venice is a collection of 117 islands connected by bridges and traversed by gondolas and vaporettos. The comforts of your hotel fill a former palace that overlooks the grandeur of the city’s famous canals. Gold trim around the window glints in the natural sunlight as polished marble floors accentuate the frescoes that decorate the walls and ceilings of the lobby. You will meet your guide on the hotel’s private dock, eager to set out onto the Grand Canal for an introductory tour. The canal stretches two miles long with smaller waterways that reach outward between the antique homes and labyrinthine walkways.
The city pulses with life beside its main highway as gondolas and vaporettos cruise down the water. Wooden plinths rise out of the canal to support the marble structures and moorings. Gray-haired women watch passersby from their open windows as produce vendors unload baskets of fruit and vegetables from their boats onto loading docks. Between the faucets of everyday life, the splendor of the Venetian Republic continues to decorate the islands, including the Santa Maria della Salute. The church was built in gratitude and devotion at the end of the plague in the 17th century as more than one million timber plinths were driven into the lagoon floor to support the weight of the structure adorned with a magnificent dome.

My husband and I went through Zicasso to plan our honeymoon to Italy and Greece. This was the best decision ever! We worked closely with our travel specialist to plan our trip and she was absolutely phenomenal. This was our first international trip outside of the US, so we were a bit nervous at first! However, our specialist ensured every aspect of the trip was organized and that we were taken care of every step of the way.
The biggest relief was transportation. We did not have to give a second thought as to how we were getting places; we had drivers set up at every destination and for nearly every activity. Also, we had 24/7 support if anything were to go wrong, which gave us peace of mind.
If you are hesitant to use Zicasso for your next trip, I want you to know that I was too, but it was the best decision! We were able to personalize and tailor our trip to our needs without the hassle of dealing with the details.

It was a great pleasure working with Zicasso's tour agency. Our travel designer and her staff were attentive to the kind of trip we wanted and planned a great itinerary. The hotels, restaurants, and drivers were all top-notch. For us, the acid test was the quality of the guides, and they excelled there as well. We would happily have them plan another trip for us.
