Although this itinerary is situated primarily in the cities of Rome, Florence, and Amalfi, your travels will include crossing into the multiple districts and neighborhoods of each city center to ensure that you leave well-acquainted with each city and that no major sight is missed.
The first leg of your journey will introduce you to the vibrant character of Italy’s capital. Rome, which is also known as the Eternal City, occupies a central role in recorded history as the seat of a century and continent-spanning empire. As you explore ancient ruins, this history will become evident. You will also witness Italy’s religious significance as it hosts the Vatican and the head of the Catholic church. Ancient ruins will be replaced by timeless art as you venture to the birthplace of the Renaissance.
Spanning the Arno River, Florence is a splash of red-tiled roofs among the rolling hills of Tuscany. Rare is the table that lacks a tasty product from these hills, either through the unique flavors of the Chianti wine or the rich Florentine steak and pasta dishes.
