Detailed Description

Escape to another world on this customized getaway to New Zealand. You’ll be delighted by friendly cities and inspired by spectacular untouched wilderness. Begin your independent-travel tour in Auckland, the country’s biggest and most bustling city with over a million people yet considered one of the best cities in the world to live. Known as the "City of Sails," Auckland has more boats per capita than any other place in the world. Discover this melting pot city’s vibrant multicultural ambience and learn about the indigenous Maori people.

Explore Rotorua, New Zealand’s heartland of Maori culture. Here you can visit authentic Maori villages and be captivated by cultural performances. Rotorua is also a place of natural beauty and a geothermal wonderland. Take a walk on the wild side by getting close to active geysers, boiling mud pools and hot springs. On a guided coach tour from Auckland to Rotorua, you’ll visit the fascinating Waitomo caves and cruise through the magical Glowworm Grotto.

Visit Christchurch, a quaint city that has a distinctly British feel with its lovely gardens and well-manicured parks. Your tour also takes you outside of the city through picturesque farmland and fascinating rock formations and on a cruise around Akaroa Harbour where you can see Hector’s Dolphins, a protected species. Travel across the plains and through the high country until you reach the awe-inspiring Mount Cook for amazing photo-ops!

Immerse yourself in the rugged splendor of Queenstown, an alpine resort town overlooking the serene Lake Wakatipu and surrounded by the aptly named Remarkable Mountains.. Explore the great outdoors and see some of the world’s most sublime natural scenery—from lush alpine forests and majestic mountains to pristine freshwater lakes and dramatic fiords. Commune with nature at the World Heritage-listed Fiordland National Park, where you can breathe in the refreshing sea breezes and admire the magnificent fiords bordered by steep cliffs and glacier-carved valleys.

Australia, New Zealand Vacation Review: Sydney, Queenstown, Private Tours, 23 Days

The itinerary was awesome! We had a few snafus with hotel reservations, but they were quickly resolved. The tours were perfect and all private, with excellent guides. The pace made good use of the time we had and maximized seeing the most locations in our time frame. The hotels were beautiful (especially the one in Queenstown, WOW!) and the rooms were perfect for our needs (kitchens and laundry). It was so great having everything pre-booked and guided, as it allowed us to relax and enjoy the trip and not worry about logistics. It was a trip of a lifetime.

I would highly recommend this Zicasso travel agency! When traveling so far away, it made such a difference to have everything coordinated by a professional. I have had many people ask how we managed to do so much with the time we had. Now, I don't think I can travel any other way.

New Zealand, Australia Vacation Review: Queenstown, Auckland, Milford Sound, Christchurch, 2 Weeks

Zicasso’s trip planner did an excellent job. Communication and the quality of the experiences were everything we'd expected and more, especially in New Zealand. The accommodations were first rate; the highlight was the lodge in Queenstown. The guides and drivers were professional and knowledgeable, especially those in Queenstown and Auckland. We loved the dedicated website for reference, as well as the detailed booklet and maps for both countries.

For future itineraries, I would add another day in Queenstown and a full day in Christchurch. If days were limited, I would recommend one less day in Auckland and/or skipping the drive/train from Franz Josef.

The only complication was the day we spent 10 hours going to and coming from Milford Sound.  I recommend doing Milford Sound by plane/helicopter from Queenstown, which would also permit seeing the glaciers/southern alps from the air. The only things we missed were the zoo in Auckland and the Blue Mountain day tour in Sydney. Next trip!

Australia, New Zealand Trip Review: Tasmania, Rotorua, Uluru, Queenstown, Luging, Camel Ride, Wildlife, Hobbiton, Islands, Glowworm Cave, 2 Weeks

We absolutely loved so much of our trip! My kids’ (ages 11 and eight) favorite activities were luging in Rotorua, NZ, and the sunset camel ride in Uluru, AU, while my husband and I were enchanted by Hobbiton and enjoyed exploring a glowworm cave with the owner's father! We all loved Tasmania.

There were a few hiccups. However, we were very happy with all the support the Zicasso travel company's team provided in real time to help us get back on track.

The overall trip was fantastic. My husband and I appreciated having the team support our adventures, both the highs and the lows. The team members were detailed-oriented. This trip exceeded our expectations and we’re incredibly grateful for their expertise in curating such memorable experiences.

New Zealand Trip Review: 18 Nights

The travel company was excellent as was the agent, until we committed and paid. We were unhappy from then on and not what we have previously experienced from Zicasso agents. Very unresponsive, took weeks for some answers, lack for attention to detail eg forgot to book private transfer in Christchurch despite having months to do it. Still awaiting small refund for 2 months, money is not important service is.

Australia, New Zealand Vacation Review: Queenstown, Milford Sound, Kangaroo Island, Rotorua, Tasmania, Cradle Mountain, Hobart, Maori Culture, 28 Nights

Zicasso's travel consultant was wonderful to work with. She listened very closely to our trip desires and met every one of them. She was very responsive before and during the vacation. She was accommodating with changes and worked with us on every step to make it a once-in-a-lifetime holiday. I would highly recommend her and this tour company for future trip arrangements.

Australia and New Zealand were great. I would definitely spend more time in the rural areas vs the cities. However, Queenstown was awesome and we tend to enjoy the outdoors more than city life.

Thank you for a terrific trip!

New Zealand Tour Review: Milford Sound, Mount Cook, Christchurch, Rotorua, Auckland, 10-Night Trip

We just got back from a most enjoyable trip to New Zealand, planned by Zicasso's travel agent and her company. She understood what we were trying to cover during this trip and planned the excursions/activities, hotels, and transportation very well.

We started in Queensland and, after Milford Sound, worked our way north through Mount Cook, Christchurch, Rotorua, and Auckland. The company planned each day, with the travel times and activities woven well with appropriate meal times and rest breaks. The guides and pick-ups at each location were prompt and well-informed, and we always knew what to expect at each step of our trip.

We had a couple of issues, one with a day trip for wine tasting and another with the quality of one of the hotels, but our agent responded quickly with a solution.

It was a memorable trip; a fun, enjoyable, and educational introduction to New Zealand, and we would heartily recommend them to anyone planning a trip to New Zealand.
