Detailed Description
This tour eases you into the rhythm of Tanzania by ushering you into the tranquil and remote northern Usambara mountain range. Spend days hiking through the rainforest, pausing at waterfalls and vantage points looking out over the plains below. Take time to visit with local community members learning of a unique model for tourism, which has enabled local development and growth. Move south into the raw and rugged landscapes of Tarangire National Park, pausing for a picnic under an ancient baobab tree while wildlife circulates around you.
Excitement builds while driving towards the famed plains of the Serengeti. Traversing the savanna, skilled guides will locate the Great Wildebeest Migration and the predators that escort it. Drive alongside the riverbank, watching hippos bob and crocodiles laze in the strong African sun. Moving east, descend to the floor of the Ngorongoro Crater – an ancient collapsed volcano that acts as a natural enclosure for a dense population of lion. Spend a day exploring the lush rainforest slopes, the grassy bottom and the surrounding plateaus before returning to Arusha.
This trip culminates on the aquamarine shores of the Indian Ocean. Touching down on the island of Zanzibar, a final few days will be spent quietly relaxing on soft white beaches in the shade of a palm tree. Set sail onto the calm waters with a snorkel in hand, popping beneath the surface to swim amongst schools of tropical fish. Spend a few final hours navigating the winding streets of Stone Town, soaking in the rich Swahili culture and history. Finally, indulge in one last sundowner as the sun sets over the continent, creating the perfect farewell to this African adventure.

We can't speak highly enough about using Zicasso's travel specialist and her company. They put together a complicated package covering three completely separate areas and were able to connect us with local guides in each place. The guides they worked with were all fabulous, as were the locations we stayed at.
At one point, the airline that was handling our trip out changed the flight due to local conditions. I learned of this first through our specialist, who was immediately on the situation and kept us apprised of the change. The company provided us with an online portal that covered every part of our trip. It was constantly updated and we always knew who the next contact was in the new area.
Throughout the process, we had constant questions and changes. Our travel company was very pleasant and accommodating of our concerns. Their work was in the middle of a larger trip. Even though they were not handling the stops before and after their portion, they were more than happy to help out with those portions and added that information to our itinerary at no cost.
In a word, they were fabulous. If you want more detail on their work and my unqualified recommendation of them, please reach out and I'm happy to provide you with more information.
