Tearing Down the Walls

Welcome to famous Berlin, a city that has withstood wars and revolutions and has somehow emerged with a brimming energy that pulses through the city. There is an endless, palpable charge that you feel the moment you arrive. The modern buildings mix with the historic; those of East Berlin that harken back to the communist era, and those that were rebuilt in a way that brings the charm of pre-World War II Germany back to the streets.

The air is filled with more than just bratwurst and beer, where modern German chefs have brought the German tradition past the point of ingenuity, giving elegant fare to countless neighborhoods. Art is everywhere, within hidden galleries and draped over warehouses. The opulent and impressive pediment of Brandenburg Gate stands as the entryway to Unter den Linden, in a neo-classical style that brings grace and empowerment mixing with the modern streets of Berlin.

Your European vacation begins in Berlin where the capital of Germany wraps around an expansive area and the past. A guided tour of the city introduces you to the ease of the local transportation while offering you the grandeur of the city’s history, from Brandenburg Gate to the Berlin Wall, each a building block of the city’s past that has molded the current vibrant culture so celebrated by the locals and desired by the rest of the world. In Potsdam you will discover the royal elegance that continues to decorate the city like regalia, where tremendous gardens blossom and parks around the world pale in comparison.

In the midst of your journey to Prague you have the option to stop in Dresden, a city rebuilt after World War II. Dresden reflects the same grace that once stood and now continues to wash over the city. Once in fabulous Prague you will see the quintessential streets and buildings that create Old Town. The medieval charm of the city, whether sunny and warm or covered in snow, surrounds you on a grand tour that takes you through the hidden streets, across the relished Charles Bridge, and along the courtyard of Prague Castle. Outside of Prague you will visit the village of Kutna Hora, known for the Sedlec Ossuary, a church decorated with bones in a phantasmagorical way.

Your exploration continues with your arrival in Vienna, the home of Mozart, where rising historic architecture mixes with modern luxuries and bustling life. Tour the city to find the fabulous opera house and famed St. Stephen’s Cathedral. Vienna is a city where you can almost hear the music emanating out of any and every window. A comfortable train ride will have you in Budapest, Hungary, taking you along the open countryside and sharp mountains.  You have the option of traveling by private car with a stop in quaint Old Town Bratislava along the way. Budapest offers grand views of the Danube and fantastic living history, where the decadent halls of the Parliament share the backdrop of Soviet era seclusion. Hungary, Austria, Germany, France Vacation Review: Budapest, Vienna, Berlin, Paris, 2 Weeks

To everyone at Zicasso's travel agency, thank you, thank you, thank you! The private trip to the most remarkable European metropolises you curated for us was, well, in the words of the countries we visited, csodálatos/wunderbar/wunderbar/and trés magnifique!!!!!

Everything and everyone you arranged for us was not only to our liking, but perfect.

The hotels were as we like, boutique, not large conglomerate chains. Each was nicely situated, with the staff attentive. The one we found best was in Berlin, with the others not far behind.

The drivers were all nice, on time, and helpful. The tour guides were all informative and knowledgeable, and answered our many questions with aplomb. While all were good, we found the two guides in Berlin to be our favorites. And while she knew her subject matter, we found the one in Vienna too religious and opinionated. We suggest maybe not using her as much.

We did not really use any of the restaurant recommendations you supplied because we like to find local eateries close to the hotels. Two we went to twice because the first experience was so good – in Berlin and in Paris.

One note: there were two times we took a cab whose driver, after taking us, said they did not accept cash and passed a card scanner for me to tap. Afterward, I received an alert from Visa that the charge was $98 rather than the $9 quoted in Budapest and $168 rather than the $12 quoted in Paris. We suggest letting everyone know to only take cabs that accept cash or take an Uber.

Once again I would like to thank all of you who endeavored to make this adventure such a pleasant and memorable one.

All the best,

Rick and Barb Boyko

France, Switzerland, Austria Trip Review: Christmas Markets, Jungfraujoch, Hiking, Ziplining, Dog Sledding, Classical Music, Horse-drawn Carriage Ride, 3 Weeks

Our three-week winter escapade to France, Switzerland, and Austria was nothing short of a magical journey through some of the most enchanting winter wonderlands Europe has to offer. From the romance of horse-drawn carriage rides to the charm of bustling Christmas markets, every moment was incredible.

France: A Parisian Winter Dream

We began our adventure in Paris, the City of Lights, which becomes even more captivating during the winter. The Eiffel Tower sparkled against the night sky and Paris offered a blend of elegance and festive cheer that set the perfect tone for the rest of our trip.

Another highlight was our visit to Colmar, a charming Alsace town that felt like stepping into a storybook. Its cobblestone streets, half-timbered houses, and magical Christmas market made it an unforgettable experience, with festive lights and holiday spirit around every corner.

Switzerland: A Snow-Capped Wonderland

Next, we ventured to Switzerland, where the true magic of winter revealed itself. The highlight was our trip to Jungfraujoch, the "Top of Europe." The journey up was as breathtaking as the destination itself, with panoramic views of snow-draped peaks and charming alpine villages. Once at Jungfraujoch, we were mesmerized by the endless expanse of snow and ice.

Equally unforgettable was our visit to First Mountain. The crisp air, thrilling walk, and ziplining added an adventurous touch. The view from the suspension bridge, with the mountains stretching endlessly into the horizon, was a sight that will forever be etched in our memories.

We also had the thrill of dog sledding near the Matterhorn. Gliding across snowy trails with a team of eager huskies was an exhilarating and unique way to experience the majestic mountain landscapes.

Austria: A Symphony of Tradition and Festivity

Our final stop was Austria, where the Christmas spirit was alive in every corner. The Vienna Christmas Market was a dream come true, with its illuminated stalls offering everything from handcrafted ornaments to mouthwatering strudels and mulled wine. Salzburg, with its Baroque architecture and snow-dusted rooftops, felt like stepping into a fairy tale. We also attended a classical music performance that added a touch of cultural richness to our holiday.

To top it off, we enjoyed a cozy, horse-drawn carriage ride through a picturesque Austrian village. Wrapped in warm blankets, we listened to the rhythmic clopping of hooves as we glided past snow-covered chalets and twinkling lights – a truly enchanting experience!

The entire trip was a seamless blend of natural beauty, cultural richness, and festive joy. Each destination brought its own unique charm, leaving us with unforgettable memories of twinkling lights, snowy peaks, and the warm glow of holiday cheer. Winter in Europe is truly a season to behold and this journey was nothing short of spectacular.

Our Zicasso travel representative made sure every small detail was organized and even double-checked the drivers, tours, etc, in advance. This is the perfect travel company and we will surely use them again! Our agents communicated with us throughout the trip to ensure everything was flawless! Thank you for the most magical holiday ever! We shall cherish these memories forever.

We had an absolutely incredible European adventure!

If you are dreaming of a seamless and spectacular European getaway like we were, look no further than Zicasso's travel company! Our recent trip for seven siblings across Vienna, Slovenia, Croatia, and Venice was nothing short of magical, all thanks to the incredible expertise of our travel specialist.

From the get-go, our travel specialist listened intently as I described our group's preferences, travel styles, and bucket-list wishes. He didn't just meet our expectations, he soared right past them, crafting an itinerary that felt tailor-made for pure joy and connection. This trip wasn't just a vacation; it was a precious opportunity for us grown-up siblings to laugh, explore, and feel like carefree kids again–truly amazing!

Our phenomenal main guide was the glue that held our adventure together. From our Vienna airport pickup all the way through to our Venice water-taxi send-off, he was a superstar! Always punctual, incredibly knowledgeable about each destination, and a fantastic organizer, he made every day flow effortlessly.

What truly set this experience apart was our guide's amazing flexibility. Whether it was one of many last-minute comfort breaks (much appreciated!), a tweak to the schedule, or an impromptu adventure like an exhilarating toboggan run down Straza hill in Slovenia (epic memories!), he handled it all with a smile. Exploring the breathtaking Postojna Cave and soaring above Lake Bohinj on the Vogel Cable Car were just a couple of the many highlights he helped make happen.

The local city guides were also fantastic, bringing each location to life with engaging stories and a perfect blend of fun activities and fascinating insights. From stunning wineries and delicious culinary tastings to chocolate making, truffle hunting, ancient arenas, and breathtaking historical sites, every day was a delightful discovery.

Thank you! You turned our European dream into a vibrant, unforgettable reality. If anyone is looking for a tour company that truly listens, expertly plans, and delivers an exceptional travel experience, this is the answer. Don't just dream it – book it!
