Detailed Description

Fables and fairytales fill the landscape of Southeast Asia to speak of monks that softly chant amidst the swirl of incense around the ancient pagodas. They speak of jungle roots that wrap themselves around magnificent temple ruins and of the faded charm found in colonial cities with the mystique that cascades from hilltop monasteries. Destinations blur the definitions of fiction, and they don't just present historical tales. They merge into the present, to take the traditions of a bygone era into an immersive experience for every visitor. A lost world juxtaposes with the here and now, demonstrated as a line of barefooted monks emerge from an 11th-century sandstone temple.

This unique itinerary connects the stories to explore five of Southeast Asia's most iconic destinations: the temples of Bagan and Angkor Wat, the relics of Bangkok, World Heritage spirituality in Luang Prabang, and the continent's finest colonial city, Yangon (formerly Rangoon). In just 12 days, capture the evocative essence of the region and visit its most exceptional and exquisite attractions. Each is different, a new slice of heritage and culture along the water. With the recent evolution of Asia's flight network, these once-distant destinations are easy to connect.

Spend your first days in Myanmar. Bagan baffles and overwhelms with over 2,000 ancient temples and pagodas to create a lost carpet of mystique. Only a few have been restored. Most stand in a redolent state of partial ruin, their treasures intact but crumbling slightly (this only adds to the fable). Buddhas sit serenely beside ancient murals, sculpted creatures guard temple entrances, and incense swirls beneath beautiful golden facades. Loose yourself in the lost realm as you travel by hot air balloon and horse carriage to the most untouched of the sites.

Yangon comes from a different time, and it's equally lost in its era. Colonial Rangoon reveals the remnants of the British Raj, the vibrant city lanes almost exclusively filled with carpets of architecture from the early 19th-century. Little has changed, and it feels as though you wander through a city that lives in the past; tea stalls, Indian markets, the senses absorbed at every angle. Bangkok lives in a different period of history and is undeniably modern, but a couple of outstanding attractions make this an unforgettable stop on a Southeast itinerary; the Grand Palace and the fabulous Wat Po.

Angkor Wat is Southeast Asia's second great temple complex (after Bagan), a large site of relics that have been overwhelmed by the jungle. The iconic attractions seem to come from a fictional narrative; roots clamber through ornate facades, moss-engulfed sculptures frozen in time, temples hide deep behind the green. Spend time here between Yangon and Bangkok before you complete the luxury itinerary in Luang Prabang, a serene and spiritual base on the Mekong River. This World Heritage site is alive with Buddhist ceremonies, majestic monasteries, and the spa indulgence found in the remote hills of Asia. All the destinations are connected by flights and specialist guides accompany you in each of the locations.

Thailand Travel Review: Bangkok, Koh Samui, Temples, Elephant...

We had a great trip to Thailand with our Zicasso trip planner. They set us up with a very helpful guide in Bangkok, who made it easy from the time we stepped off the plane, through all the temples, activities, night markets, tuk-tuks, and boats.

Our hotel in Bangkok was great, with nice views and a nice breakfast buffet. We took the free hotel ferry to the shopping mall and it was a lot of fun.

Our resort in Koh Samui was incredible. It had a great beach and pool. The elephant sanctuary and the cooking class were highlights. We would probably pass on Pig Island next time as it was very dirty and we saw pigs getting attacked.

Overall, we had a great time and the tour guide took care of us completely, from start to finish.

Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Singapore Travel Review: Lan...

We had an amazing, nearly three-week trip throughout Southeast Asia. Zicasso's tour operators did an incredible job planning all of the details of the trip. In general, I am not easily impressed and I tend to be pretty upfront with my criticism. In this case, I was truly impressed. I really don't have any criticism about the whole experience.

This was a very complicated trip, with eight cities/locations and six internal flights. We had great communication in the months and weeks leading up to the trip. They were receptive to all of our requests and they gave very good advice when we had questions.

All of the guides were great. The hotels were amazing and all of the details of the activities, transfers, and internal flights were well thought out and well coordinated. I was so impressed by their attention to detail. They were also willing to be flexible and able to make changes, even during the trip. I was able to reach them throughout the trip by WhatsApp and they responded quickly every time. I would recommend them wholeheartedly.

Vietnam, Cambodia Tour Review: Ha Long Bay, Angkor Wat,...

We traveled to Vietnam and Cambodia from May 8 to 22, 2025. This was my fifth trip through Zicasso. As expected, the itinerary was excellent and exactly what we were looking for. I did double my budget from what I initially sent to Zicasso.

All of the lodging selections were outstanding. Along with the tours of the Ho Chi Minh complex, Hue Imperial City, the Angkor Wat complex, and numerous other temples and pagodas, we experienced a cable car ride to a mountain summit, a walk through an ethnic village, a water puppet show, a Cambodian circus, a Vietnamese cooking class, an evening lantern boat ride in Hoi An, and dinner in one of the top 50 restaurants in Asia. The water puppets are an ancient Vietnamese art (11th century) and the show was extraordinary.
