Detailed Description

The best thing about New Zealand’s South Island is that there is so much to share as a family. Adventures will push your boundaries and provide something completely new, while landscapes present tranquility and a chance to be together without the bustle of the metropolis. Unique wildlife creates stunning family moments, and a wide range of activities means that everyone can follow their interests. This is an island where you can explore and discover together, from cruising past icebergs to landing on a glacier and from sublime Lake Tekapo to a quiet beach beneath majestic cliffs.

You are not even required to have a sense of adventure because New Zealand instills this in all its visitors. The first thing that you will do as you get off the plane is gaze in wonder at the wilderness. While the activities may seem very adventurous, they are all very safe for all ages. The South Island is also a place of serenity, and can still be incredibly active during the day. Overall, this is a laid-back destination, and everybody can enjoy their perfect blend of relaxing evenings and active exploration.

Handcrafted as an idyllic mix of downtime and adventure, this 9-day family adventure is based in three destinations. Four nights in Queenstown will offer you jetboating, Lord of the Rings filming locations, and a customizable set of outdoor activities. Here, you will also soar above Fiordland on a private helicopter tour that includes a glacier landing. Next will be Lake Tekapo, which is a blissful and remote destination in the Southern Alps. You will be able to indulge in guided stargazing, a horseback trek, and spectacular views of Terminal Lake and its icebergs. You will conclude your nine days on the coast in Akaroa. Here, you will swim with dolphins and bask in the beach vibes as this iconic vacation draws to a close.

Australia, New Zealand Vacation Review: Sydney, Queenstown, Private Tours, 23 Days

The itinerary was awesome! We had a few snafus with hotel reservations, but they were quickly resolved. The tours were perfect and all private, with excellent guides. The pace made good use of the time we had and maximized seeing the most locations in our time frame. The hotels were beautiful (especially the one in Queenstown, WOW!) and the rooms were perfect for our needs (kitchens and laundry). It was so great having everything pre-booked and guided, as it allowed us to relax and enjoy the trip and not worry about logistics. It was a trip of a lifetime.

I would highly recommend this Zicasso travel agency! When traveling so far away, it made such a difference to have everything coordinated by a professional. I have had many people ask how we managed to do so much with the time we had. Now, I don't think I can travel any other way.

New Zealand, Australia Vacation Review: Queenstown, Auckland, Milford Sound, Christchurch, 2 Weeks

Zicasso’s trip planner did an excellent job. Communication and the quality of the experiences were everything we'd expected and more, especially in New Zealand. The accommodations were first rate; the highlight was the lodge in Queenstown. The guides and drivers were professional and knowledgeable, especially those in Queenstown and Auckland. We loved the dedicated website for reference, as well as the detailed booklet and maps for both countries.

For future itineraries, I would add another day in Queenstown and a full day in Christchurch. If days were limited, I would recommend one less day in Auckland and/or skipping the drive/train from Franz Josef.

The only complication was the day we spent 10 hours going to and coming from Milford Sound.  I recommend doing Milford Sound by plane/helicopter from Queenstown, which would also permit seeing the glaciers/southern alps from the air. The only things we missed were the zoo in Auckland and the Blue Mountain day tour in Sydney. Next trip!

New Zealand Trip Review: 18 Nights

The travel company was excellent as was the agent, until we committed and paid. We were unhappy from then on and not what we have previously experienced from Zicasso agents. Very unresponsive, took weeks for some answers, lack for attention to detail eg forgot to book private transfer in Christchurch despite having months to do it. Still awaiting small refund for 2 months, money is not important service is.

Australia, New Zealand Vacation Review: Queenstown, Milford Sound, Kangaroo Island, Rotorua, Tasmania, Cradle Mountain, Hobart, Maori Culture, 28 Nights

Zicasso's travel consultant was wonderful to work with. She listened very closely to our trip desires and met every one of them. She was very responsive before and during the vacation. She was accommodating with changes and worked with us on every step to make it a once-in-a-lifetime holiday. I would highly recommend her and this tour company for future trip arrangements.

Australia and New Zealand were great. I would definitely spend more time in the rural areas vs the cities. However, Queenstown was awesome and we tend to enjoy the outdoors more than city life.

Thank you for a terrific trip!

New Zealand, Australia Trip Review: Sydney, Great Barrier Reef, Dart River, Phillip Island, Dinner Cruise, Rainforest, Wildlife, Snorkeling, Helicopter Ride, Boat Tour, 23 Nights

Thanks to the amazing, perfectly planned Australia and New Zealand vacation itinerary provided by Zicasso's travel agency, and specifically the travel agent and her wonderful colleagues, this was the perfect vacation. We were well taken care of and flights were planned within the countries, with someone always greeting us at the next stop to move us through to our next adventure.

We were always busy and saw the most wonderful things... a sunset dinner cruise on Sydney harbor, the march of the penguins at Phillip Island (she arranged for us to have a front-row seat!), snorkeling the Great Barrier Reef, and touring the rainforest with an Aboriginal guide was very interesting! She arranged for many tours and activities, like a jet boat ride up the Dart River, a helicopter ride onto a glacier, and a TranzAlpine train ride in New Zealand. We also had a first-time-ever encounter with a pod of orca while on a boat tour in New Zealand. The whole trip was an unforgettable experience!

We wished we had taken the travel agent's advice and stayed longer. There was so much to see. We packed a lot into our four short weeks thanks to them. We highly recommend using them to plan your Australia and New Zealand itinerary.
