Detailed Description

Take off on an adventure of a lifetime to sunny Spain as a whole family. You'll experience the very best of Spain's major cities on this custom tour. Stroll along Barcelona's shady Las Ramblas boulevard, dine at Madrid's Plaza Mayor while acoustic bands serenade you, and dig your toes into Valencia's sparkling Mediterranean waters. Get the kids in on the action as you tap your toes on the pavement during an authentic flamenco show, ride a cable car for stunning mountain views, and roll up your sleeves to participate in a traditional paella cooking class.

Your eight-day Spanish getaway begins in Catalonia's capital city of Barcelona. Streets are abuzz beginning in the early morning hours as locals and tourists alike gather near La Boqueria Market and Las Ramblas boulevard. The first night, you can enjoy a lovely dinner in the Placa Reial while street performers take center stage in the center of the plaza. The following day, you will explore one of famed architect Antoni Gaudi's most beloved creations, Park Guell. This whimsical park provides stunning panoramic views of the city and ocean water below. You can get lost amongst the scattered woodland cottages, grand mosaic staircases, and bold stone archways. In the afternoon, you and the kids will embark on a beach outing to some of Barcelona's most beautiful beaches, including Playa de la Barceloneta, Playa de la Mar Bella, and Playa de San Sebastian. The next day, you can explore the Gothic Quarter alongside your expert guide for a tour of the city's historical gems, including Placa de Sant Jaume. In the afternoon, you will board a cable car ride to Montjuic, a stoic castle perched atop the city.

Then, it's off to Valencia, just a few hours due south via Spain's high-speed AVE train. You and the family will quickly fall in love with Valencia as you explore the city's colorful buildings and whimsical street art. On your first day, you'll roll up your sleeves to participate in an authentic paella cooking class alongside an expert chef. Then, unwind at Gulliver's Park, where the kids have the freedom to explore. The next day, you can marvel at the futuristic designs of Santiago Calatrava's City of Arts and Sciences before stepping inside Valencia's massive aquarium.

The final portion of your trip will be spent in the nation's effervescent capital city of Madrid. You will stroll through Parque El Retiro and have a chance to ride inside a horse-drawn carriage for an expansive view of this massive park, then check out the San Miguel Food Market. The kids will love taste-testing Madrid's fried dough, sugary delight known as churros. Round off your trip by attending a high energy flamenco show that will have the whole family stomping and clapping along.

Portugal, Spain Tour Review: Porto, Cangas de Onis, Sidecar...

The planning experience was wonderful overall. From the initial conversation about what my family was looking for to the final touches to the itinerary, Zicasso's travel expert was engaging, responsive, and helpful.

The accommodations he selected for us exceeded expectations; they were spacious, beautiful, and well-located. The tours/activities suggested were really fun and gave us a sense of the locale in a unique and memorable way that fit our family well. Once we were in-country, communications were easy and helpful. We felt very well cared for.

Payment to our travel company was easy and it was a real pleasure once we were in-country to have all the identified items already paid for. I would definitely book a trip with them again.

Spain Vacation Review: History, Architecture, Hiking, E-Biking,...

Zicasso's travel specialists did a great job for us. They clearly listened to us and curated an experience that was made specifically for us. It checked all of the boxes and more.

Highlights were the local tour guides in each city. It was great to meet and get to know local people, learn so much history, see the architecture (Gaudí in Barcelona and the awesome palaces and cathedrals that we visited), the Montserrat hike, Caminito del Rey (which was absolutely better with a guide), and the Marbella e-bike adventure.

The hotels were wonderful; all unique and all great choices. We came home happy and tired, which is the sign of a good trip for us (since we do not ever sit on beaches or at pools and relax!).

My family and I loved Asturias. We considered it a “once-in-a-lifetime” trip. Zicasso's travel agent planned the perfect outings for us. Our guides were knowledgeable and helpful. Our agent also provided us with very helpful hints and suggestions for restaurants and shops. Both of the hotels he chose were located perfectly and staffed by friendly employees.
