Fires – White Sand on Tasmania
Tasmania is a wild island, and more than half of it is a protected wilderness area. So much of it remains unspoiled and unexplored. In most other countries, Tasmania would be a major tourist hot spot. This is an island for losing yourself in raw Australian nature, and it is made special by the lack of visitors. After landing in Hobart, you will be transferred to the Bay of Fires, where boulders glow red and orange around the white beach. The afternoon and evening will be at your leisure, and there is no prettier place to ease into a vacation. Bay of Fires is regularly ranked as one of the world’s ultimate beaches, but by sunset, you will virtually be alone.

Detailed Description
With two weeks in Australia and New Zealand, it is easy to be sucked into a classic route through popular destinations. However, there is so much to discover in these breathtaking countries and so much to experience when you venture off the beaten path. This two-week Australia and New Zealand tour features a mix of unknown destinations, hidden gems, and alternative tours. It is also a chance to become fully immersed in the Australian style and Kiwi vibe. From Tasmania to Great Barrier Island, you will make connections with the local people and endemic wildlife in addition to encountering epic landscapes, such as active volcanos. These are countries that you can visit for months and not get close to experiencing it all, but with two weeks, you can avoid crowds and discover authenticity behind the countries’ popular facades.
Tasmania and Melbourne will be your destinations in Australia. Then, in New Zealand, you will be exploring Great Barrier Island, the Coromandel Peninsula, Tauranga, and Napier. Some of these destinations do see tourists, especially Melbourne, but you do not need to do the same standard tours as everyone else. For example, in Melbourne, you will discover the city on a backstreet art tour, fly to the Grampian Mountains to meet a remote Aboriginal community, and enjoy gastronomic experiences in Mornington rather than the Yarra Valley. Australia and New Zealand are so large that it is easy to skip the typical tourist trail and immerse yourself in the local culture. Well, it will be easy when you have excellent guides and private tours that can be adjusted to your interests and mood.
After landing in Hobart on day one, you can get over your jet lag with an afternoon at the Bay of Fires, which is a dazzling beach of glowing boulders, white sand, and evocative water. Days two and three will be all about the wild as you explore the wildlife and wilderness of rural Tasmania. Freycinet National Park will bring animal encounters on land and water, while Bruny Island’s playful wallabies will create an entertaining morning before a gourmet seafood searching and cooking workshop. After a fourth day of exploring Tasmania, you will spend three nights in Melbourne, where the experiences include backstreet art, the Grampians helicopter tour, and the sumptuous gastronomy of the Mornington Peninsula.
You will then fly to Auckland on day eight. Upon your arrival, you will immediately transfer to a light aircraft that will fly you to Great Barrier Island for two days. This is an island with a frontier feel that is far off the beaten track and a place for escaping the world and appreciating the raw New Zealand wilderness. You will then fly to Coromandel for a stunning kayaking adventure before spending day 11 wandering among two active volcanos. You will land on these two hissing volcanos, explore their impressive colors, and feel their sheer power. Napier on the North Island will be your final destination, and it is a place for relaxed wine tasting with streets of art deco. Although you will not make it to the South Island, you will discover an authentic Kiwi vibe in the northern half of New Zealand.

We absolutely loved so much of our trip! My kids’ (ages 11 and eight) favorite activities were luging in Rotorua, NZ, and the sunset camel ride in Uluru, AU, while my husband and I were enchanted by Hobbiton and enjoyed exploring a glowworm cave with the owner's father! We all loved Tasmania.
There were a few hiccups. However, we were very happy with all the support the Zicasso travel company's team provided in real time to help us get back on track.
The overall trip was fantastic. My husband and I appreciated having the team support our adventures, both the highs and the lows. The team members were detailed-oriented. This trip exceeded our expectations and we’re incredibly grateful for their expertise in curating such memorable experiences.

The travel specialist at Zicasso's tour company gave us a selection of different types of tours for Sydney, Melbourne, and Hobart. Each tour had different levels of activities for us to select from, allowing us to create an itinerary based on our interests.
We had a couple of minor hiccups that were handled with a phone call. We would highly recommend this travel company.

Thanks to the amazing, perfectly planned Australia and New Zealand vacation itinerary provided by Zicasso's travel agency, and specifically the travel agent and her wonderful colleagues, this was the perfect vacation. We were well taken care of and flights were planned within the countries, with someone always greeting us at the next stop to move us through to our next adventure.
We were always busy and saw the most wonderful things... a sunset dinner cruise on Sydney harbor, the march of the penguins at Phillip Island (she arranged for us to have a front-row seat!), snorkeling the Great Barrier Reef, and touring the rainforest with an Aboriginal guide was very interesting! She arranged for many tours and activities, like a jet boat ride up the Dart River, a helicopter ride onto a glacier, and a TranzAlpine train ride in New Zealand. We also had a first-time-ever encounter with a pod of orca while on a boat tour in New Zealand. The whole trip was an unforgettable experience!
We wished we had taken the travel agent's advice and stayed longer. There was so much to see. We packed a lot into our four short weeks thanks to them. We highly recommend using them to plan your Australia and New Zealand itinerary.

In planning our trip to Australia and New Zealand, the representative for this travel company listened to our desires and incorporated them into an itinerary that met our needs. All of the tours, guides, transfers, and drivers were very good. Most of the tours were small group, which we prefer, although a couple of tours were as large as 24. The guides on all of our walking tours were incredibly informative. We learned so much.
We have traveled with our companion on nine trips through Zicasso. This is the first time we have felt that the partner travel company did not take all of our circumstances into account. We clearly stated we were older travelers. However, changes to our accommodations after the initial proposal had us walking 20 minutes to town in one place and uphill on the return. Staying in apartment-style lodgings, we were a mile from the nearest store to get breakfast supplies. Another of our hotels had an incredible number of stairs. When we expressed our disappointment in one of these to our agent by email, we got no response. Our planner was on holiday and no one else seemed to be checking her emails.
The recommendations for suggested activities on our free days were also generic and frequently were for activities that required a car to reach. It seems this company plans a lot of self-driving trips and the fact we were not driving was not reflected in our suggestions.

The itinerary was awesome! We had a few snafus with hotel reservations, but they were quickly resolved. The tours were perfect and all private, with excellent guides. The pace made good use of the time we had and maximized seeing the most locations in our time frame. The hotels were beautiful (especially the one in Queenstown, WOW!) and the rooms were perfect for our needs (kitchens and laundry). It was so great having everything pre-booked and guided, as it allowed us to relax and enjoy the trip and not worry about logistics. It was a trip of a lifetime.
I would highly recommend this Zicasso travel agency! When traveling so far away, it made such a difference to have everything coordinated by a professional. I have had many people ask how we managed to do so much with the time we had. Now, I don't think I can travel any other way.

I am very pleased to have worked with Zicasso’s travel agent and her company. I wanted to travel to Australia and New Zealand, and our agent’s suggestions on what and where to go and see were great. Where does one begin in planning for the trip and all the logistics to make it happen? I depended on your group and found the results exceeded my expectations. The trip flowed well and the experiences were great. Thank you for making the trip about seeing and experiencing rather than worrying about the logistics!
There were many positive experiences, but the little details, like choosing the right rental car for the NZ roads and having a great limo service, made the difference. What was the highlight? I wish I could distill it to one or two. I would rate Milford Sound and the Great Barrier Reef highly, but it was the overall experience that stood out. My personal thanks and those of my travel mates.
