Detailed Description

The culinary mastery of Swiss and Italian cuisine is yours to explore and experience when sampling fondue, tempering chocolate, and tasting truffles during your 12-day culinary tour of Switzerland and Italy. The gastronomy of the Swiss Alps combines rich and hearty ingredients with a legacy of Roman foundations stretching across surprisingly sundrenched slopes. The culinary heritage of northern Italy embraces the ingredients of mountainous terrain and lush valleys shaped by centuries of changing kingdoms. You will quickly learn that the best way to experience the delicacies of Switzerland and Italy is to learn, taste, and construct diverse and familiar flavors for an unparalleled gastronomic adventure.

Your culinary tour of Europe begins in Switzerland, a country brimming with scenic majesty and often-overlooked culinary splendor. The Swiss Alps have acted as Europe’s playground for centuries with Victorian-era aristocrats enjoying the glassy lakes in summer and snowcapped peaks in winter. Gushing waterfalls and tumbling glaciers have inspired poets, inventors, scientists, and musicians as well as masterful chefs. The Alps have hosted the inventors of meringues, fondue, and Raclette, in addition to crafting local cheeses for over 900 years and becoming world-famous chocolatiers. Take your time discovering the marvels of Switzerland with five nights in Montreux. Stroll through vineyards and medieval villages, enjoy breathtaking panoramas and storied castles, and indulge in demonstrations, recipes, and tastings celebrating an unforgettable sensory feast.

The culinary discovery continues in the Italian region of Piedmont for six nights. The gorgeous mountainous, hilly, and valley landscape shares borders with France and Switzerland. Picturesque villages overlook vast vineyards and thriving orchards, as well as medieval fortresses. The region hosts the vineyards creating the popular wines of Barolo and Barbaresco in addition to supporting the birth of the Slow Food Movement. The fabled white truffle grows in the damp woodlands, hazelnuts are a local specialty, and olive groves produce exceptionally rich olive oil. Use a stunning villa on the outskirts of Turin as a base while you discover the true allure of the Piedmontese cuisine. Visit small villages and castles, hunt for white truffles, embrace a cooking lesson on an organic farm, and indulge in the fascinating flavors of locally crafted cheeses, chocolates, and specialty dishes.

Italy Tour Review: Capri Private Boat Cruise, Wine Tasting, 10-Day Vacation

The drivers were timely, professional, and very prompt. The guides were very knowledgeable and generally designed the tours to match our requests. The hotels were exceptional and our only comment is that there was an odd odor in our room in one of the hotels.

Our only true complaint would be about the wine tasting on May 22. The location was not aware of our reservation. The couple running the vineyard seemed confused by our arrival. After a bit, they offered to accommodate us, but we felt like we were imposing on them. Then, at our lunch at a restaurant on Capri, they did not have a record of a reservation and placed us at a table without a view, near the entrance. We made the best of the meal, but for the price we paid, we would have expected confirmed reservations and a table with a view.

Italy Travel Review: Wine Tasting, Cooking Class, 2 Weeks

Everything was perfect! Every person showed up on time and was very knowleable, and the events our Zicasso tour operator planned were well worthwhile. She heard what we wanted to do and how we wanted to do it! I would use our tour company and Zicasso again. The wine tasting deep in the Amalifi hills, led by one of the owners, was very memorable, with his wife cooking a homemade lunch the icing on the cake.

Switzerland, Italy Travel Review: Interlaken, Grindelwald, Lauterbrunnen Valley, Zermatt, Lucerne, Lake Como, Milan, Private Tours, Art, Scenery, 10 Days

Wow! I cannot recommend this company enough for your international trips. We were blown away by the quick response times when planning, the detailed itineraries, and their ability to make our dream trip become a reality. We started planning late, and they were still able to create and book our dream trip in less than two months!

We knew we wanted to go to Switzerland and northern Italy, but honestly weren't sure what areas to visit or what activities to do. Our travel agent, through Zicasso, created a dream 10-day itinerary for us, starting in Zurich, then traveling to Interlaken, Grindelwald, Lauterbrunnen Valley, Zermatt, Lucerne, Lake Como, and ending in Milan.

They gave us options of activities to do in those cities, with detailed descriptions and recommendations. We chose a lot of mountain expeditions, which we were well pleased with. They provided other suggestions for things to do in the areas we visited and even provided restaurant recommendations. We were so impressed by how quickly they adjusted the itinerary if we requested a change, and they were so accommodating.

They were able to book us a private guided tour of The Last Supper painting in Milan, which was a highlight of the trip! We loved every activity planned and had our tickets sent to us ahead of time to print out or download, which made everything so easy. The detailed itinerary had maps, photos of buildings, walking routes, etc, and was so easy to navigate. We had the smoothest trip because of that detailed itinerary. The trip planner reached out to us several times while we were abroad just to check in and make sure everything was going smoothly.

The hotels were also amazing! Every single one had an amazing breakfast and a beautiful view. We were upgraded twice! They only use four- or five-star hotels, and I think that is a huge bonus. We were so happy with our hotels and hotel rooms. We were also incredibly happy with the price of the trip and the ease of booking and payment.

Overall, I have been telling everyone to use this company for their trips and we will definitely be using Zicasso again! Thank you, Zicasso, for the trip of a lifetime!

From the moment we began working with Zicasso's trip planner, our every need was met. He listened and planned an epic trip based on our conversations. Then, for our trip, we worked with another trip planner who was extremely responsive and professional, especially when we were in Italy. Any questions we had were promptly answered. Everything they planned was pure luxury and fantastic. The private pick-ups, drivers, and tour guides were absolutely prompt and fantastic. Every tour was super-fun and informative. Highlights included the wonderful hotels, food tour in Florence, tour in Venice, cooking class, and tasting track in Tuscany. I would highly highly recommend. It was a five-star, wonderful trip!

Italy Travel Review: Amalfi Coast, Wine-Tasting Experiences, Food Pairings, 1 Week

This trip was beyond expectations. The Zicasso travel planners did an outstanding job planning the trip we wanted. Most importantly, it was to be as stress-free as possible, not having to worry about traveling from stop to stop. Our agent was available 24/7 to make changes and help us make more plans and dinner reservations. When weather was inclement to participate in planned outside events, she planned ahead for other options. The wine-tasting experiences put together for us were magnificent! We will definitely utilize this travel company on our next trip to Italy!
