Ortona – Heart of Abruzzo
Abruzzo is dramatic in both scenery and culture. Mountains rise and fall, creating a rugged landscape leading to lush prairies. The turquoise water of the Adriatic Sea sparkles like a gem against the sandy shores of the region. Ancient forests hide medieval towers. Isolated hilltop towns overlook emerald vineyards. You will arrive in Rome, where your private transfer greets you at Leonardo da Vinci-Fiumicino Airport.
Olive trees bloom against the backdrop of Apennine Mountains. Sheep and cows graze on vast verdant farmland. In the town of Ortona, you settle into a lavish hotel overlooking the white sand of the Adriatic coast. The town’s origins date back to the 10th century BC as a Frentani settlement. The 15th-century Castle Aragonese towers over the sea, built on a cliff at an altitude of 236 feet. The promenade along the city’s coastline provides an exceptional view of the castle and the horizon beyond.

We loved Sicily! Zicasso's travel operator provided us with an amazing trip! Every guide and activity surpassed our expectations. From the archaeological parks to the cooking class at the palace, the art class, the Jeep tour of Mount Etna, the olive oil and lemon farm, but especially the guides she selected for us, it was pure joy! The history of that country is mind-boggling and fascinating to learn about.

I am so happy we worked with our Zicasso travel agent for our 11-night visit to Venice, Florence, and Rome. We had a wonderful Italian experience. Our agent was everything you hope for in a travel specialist: knowledgeable, thoughtful, helpful, gracious, and kind.
Upon hearing our initial ideas for the trip, she quickly put together a plan on how best to allot our time. Thereafter ensued exchanges regarding hotels, sightseeing, guides, and transfers. She listened to our thoughts, desires, and questions, making many useful suggestions, including hotel choices. She always prioritized our wants and concerns. She organized the travels quickly, as we contacted her only two months prior to departure.
Once we agreed to the program, she sent us a brochure PDF laying out details for each day of the trip that included hotel confirmations, transfer details, vouchers for museums, a cooking class, a Tuscany day trip with wine, cheese, and olive oil tasting, a gondola ride, Venice lagoon boat excursion, basilica entrance tickets, and guided tours of each city, the Vatican, and Colosseum.
Upon arrival in Venice, our agent met us at the airport and escorted us to our water taxi. She kept in touch with us daily, texting a reminder of the next day’s schedule, along with numbers for guides and drivers if applicable. Everything she planned went smoothly, without a single hitch.
When you begin the process with Zicasso, it feels akin to a shot in the dark. The site provides the names of two companies and you’re left to decide who to work with. I couldn’t be more pleased with the trip our agent designed. Book with her; you will be in the best of hands.

We loved everything about our trip to Tuscany. We had great, comfortable hotels as bases to explore the beautiful countryside and towns. Our hotels had kind, welcoming staff. Zicasso's travel company provided helpful suggestions and reserved non-touristy restaurants and enjoyable, interesting activities: eating in Florence, wine tasting in Montalcino, and cheese making in Pienza.

We had a fantastic experience with Zicasso's tour operator on our trip to Italy. Our agent immediately reached out to us, as did a local Italian company, and we went with our agent because she was so easy to work with and truly customized our travel plans, working on multiple drafts of our itinerary to make sure it was right. We could not have asked for a more flawless trip!
The transfers from place to place were so easy, the tour guides were top-notch, we had a lovely evening making homemade pasta with a local couple, and our contact did a great job of coordinating the details once we were in Italy. This was by far the easiest international travel we've ever had and was very memorable and relaxing. Thank you!

My husband and I had utilized the services of Zicasso for prior journeys to Italy, Southeast Asia, and Australia/New Zealand. For our recent trip to Matera and Puglia, I requested an agency located in Italy that specializes in travel to Italy. We selected a company that was on a magazine’s A-list of travel advisors.
Our travel consultant listened to and respected my requests for certain activities (private food, historical and boat tours, wine tastings, cheese making) and types of accommodations (properties that offered a shaded area to relax and read). She also emailed answers to my numerous detail-oriented questions (the curse of having personally worked as a tour guide). She sent a lovely gift to our first hotel and called halfway through our vacation to check in with us. Communication via text with WhatsApp was convenient and used frequently. Most importantly, when we had a problem with one of our accommodations, she followed up (even after our trip had ended) and graciously offered some compensation.
