Auckland – Auckland Attractions
Auckland may be New Zealand’s largest city, but it is a leisurely place that reflects the country’s laid-back atmosphere. Most international flights land early in the morning, so you will have a full day to explore some of the city’s highlights. You will be met at the airport by your private guide, and this day is entirely flexible. Given the jet lag and travel time, you will probably spend part of the day sleeping or at least just relaxing close to your hotel on the harbor-front. Your guide will outline a number of attractions for you, such as the Sky Tower, a walk on Mt. Eden, or one of the quirky neighborhoods that are famous for cafes and coffee.

Detailed Description
New Zealand has too many highlights for ten days, and you would probably need ten months to go everywhere and to see everything, but ten days can be perfect for travelers because it offers a wide variety of sights and experiences from quirky cities to extravagant landscapes. You can see and do a lot while still traveling at a laid-back pace that reflects the country’s prevailing atmosphere. This exciting, 10-day journey to New Zealand is handcrafted for senior travelers and is privately escorted. You can travel at your pace and stop wherever you want. An experienced local guide will do the driving to ensure that you get to enjoy authentic experiences rather than just the famous tourist sights.
You will travel from Auckland to Christchurch with most nights being spent in a new destination. Six days will celebrate the highlights of the North Island before you experience the South Island’s soul-stirring landscapes. After easing into your vacation on day one, you will spend day two cruising Hauraki Gulf in the country’s tropical north. Karangahake Gorge and Te Puke are just two highlights on the road to Rotorua, which is where you will spend two nights at the home and heart of Maori culture. This is a wonderful place to explore indigenous traditions, including food, music, and dance. It is also a town that is dominated by volcanic life, and you will witness enormous geysers and mud pools.
Your guide will lead you to Napier on day five, which is a cool and quirky little city that is excluded from most tourist itineraries. The surrounding countryside is breathtaking whether you choose to visit the coast or cruise around vineyards. Hawkes Bay is another bucolic spot, and you can choose how much time to spend there en route to Wellington, which is the world’s cutest capital city. During these ten days, you will learn that the journey is a large part of the experience in New Zealand, and sometimes it can be as inspiring as the actual destinations. Often, it is the landscapes that you see on the way that are most memorable in a country with such an incredible variety of them.
On day seven, you will traverse the Cook Strait en route to Marlborough, which is New Zealand’s most famous wine region. Here, you can sample world-renowned Sauvignon blanc and relax among the wineries. Afterward, you will have a relatively long drive to Marlborough, where you will hug the coastline beneath landscapes that are carved by volcanos. Kaikoura is where you will search for sperm whales and other wildlife before a short jaunt to Christchurch, which is an artistic city that is reinventing itself after a massive earthquake. Your guide will accompany you from Auckland to Christchurch, and each day will present opportunities for you to customize your route and activities.

The itinerary was awesome! We had a few snafus with hotel reservations, but they were quickly resolved. The tours were perfect and all private, with excellent guides. The pace made good use of the time we had and maximized seeing the most locations in our time frame. The hotels were beautiful (especially the one in Queenstown, WOW!) and the rooms were perfect for our needs (kitchens and laundry). It was so great having everything pre-booked and guided, as it allowed us to relax and enjoy the trip and not worry about logistics. It was a trip of a lifetime.
I would highly recommend this Zicasso travel agency! When traveling so far away, it made such a difference to have everything coordinated by a professional. I have had many people ask how we managed to do so much with the time we had. Now, I don't think I can travel any other way.

We just got back from a most enjoyable trip to New Zealand, planned by Zicasso's travel agent and her company. She understood what we were trying to cover during this trip and planned the excursions/activities, hotels, and transportation very well.
We started in Queensland and, after Milford Sound, worked our way north through Mount Cook, Christchurch, Rotorua, and Auckland. The company planned each day, with the travel times and activities woven well with appropriate meal times and rest breaks. The guides and pick-ups at each location were prompt and well-informed, and we always knew what to expect at each step of our trip.
We had a couple of issues, one with a day trip for wine tasting and another with the quality of one of the hotels, but our agent responded quickly with a solution.
It was a memorable trip; a fun, enjoyable, and educational introduction to New Zealand, and we would heartily recommend them to anyone planning a trip to New Zealand.

Zicasso’s trip planner did an excellent job. Communication and the quality of the experiences were everything we'd expected and more, especially in New Zealand. The accommodations were first rate; the highlight was the lodge in Queenstown. The guides and drivers were professional and knowledgeable, especially those in Queenstown and Auckland. We loved the dedicated website for reference, as well as the detailed booklet and maps for both countries.
For future itineraries, I would add another day in Queenstown and a full day in Christchurch. If days were limited, I would recommend one less day in Auckland and/or skipping the drive/train from Franz Josef.
The only complication was the day we spent 10 hours going to and coming from Milford Sound. I recommend doing Milford Sound by plane/helicopter from Queenstown, which would also permit seeing the glaciers/southern alps from the air. The only things we missed were the zoo in Auckland and the Blue Mountain day tour in Sydney. Next trip!

The travel consultant at Zicasso's travel agency planned a memorable adventure. Our primary focus was the amazing golf courses in New Zealand. We were able not only to enjoy all the courses on our bucket list, but also the history, culture, and adventure New Zealand offers.

I really want to thank the travel specialist from Zicasso's travel agency for such amazing planning. My vacation in New Zealand was great, everything flowed flawlessly, and all the activities she suggested were really fun and varied. I got to see some incredible, breathtaking scenery.
All the tour guides were amazing and very knowledgeable, but special mention to the guide for the glowworm tour; he was incredible! The Māori experience was one of my favorite activities as I was able to really get a grasp of the culture, their music, energy, and food. And last, but definitely not least, the guide from the food tour really made my birthday very special! I am looking forward to coming back soon.

The travel company was excellent as was the agent, until we committed and paid. We were unhappy from then on and not what we have previously experienced from Zicasso agents. Very unresponsive, took weeks for some answers, lack for attention to detail eg forgot to book private transfer in Christchurch despite having months to do it. Still awaiting small refund for 2 months, money is not important service is.
